José Antonio Marina's new essay is * A Universal History of Solutions *, a book that blends philosophy, history, and psychology in an attempt to create an objective science of solutions. The author himself presents the book as follows:
"This book stems from a question: Where do politicians learn to fulfill their purpose , that is, to solve society's problems? Unfortunately, they do so in the struggle for power, which is not a good school. So, what should the education of politicians be like? Where do they learn to facilitate 'public happiness,' as the Enlightenment thinkers called it? That forgotten and noble understanding of politics as a means to resolve conflicts, which is the foundation of ethics."
Throughout the 336 pages of the philosopher's new work, we find a division into three parts. The first part is critical, highlighting the fundamental importance of identifying the problem and outlining the range of options available to solve it. The second part explores the solutions . And finally, the third part offers a critique of the solutions themselves, aiming to select the best or most useful option while awaiting a definitive solution.
Jose Antonio Marina
José Antonio Marina Torres was born in Toledo on July 1, 1939 , and as he himself points out on his website, being born in that city "is like being born simultaneously in a city and in a legend, and perhaps that is why I believe that intelligence is an admirable and tenacious creator of fictions with which to take charge of reality."
He is a retired professor of philosophy at the La Cabrera high school in Madrid and holds an honorary doctorate from the Polytechnic University of Valencia . But José Antonio Marina is much more than that. His research, focused on the study of intelligence and specifically on artistic, scientific, technological, and economic creation, has led him to participate in numerous conferences and receive many awards. He also contributes to various media outlets, including print ( El Mundo , El Semanal , and El Confidencial, among others), radio, and television.
Even as a child, creativity and expression captivated him. As a boy, he wanted to be a dancer; he was passionate about the world of dance and how people could transform effort into something fluid and effortless. He says this idea is the foundation of all his books, approaching them as if they were theses, and then explaining them in a simpler way so that almost anyone can read, understand, and enjoy them.
