With March 8th approaching, and given the impossibility of demonstrating or taking to the streets, we propose a different way to fight against gender divisions and in favor of equality. Educating and informing oneself is always the best way to achieve an educated society, an open mind, and well-reasoned opinions. And, to that end, today we bring you six talks on feminism on YouTube that explain and discuss topics such as gender stereotypes, the history of the feminist movement, the role of motherhood and postpartum depression, pornography, prostitution, and masculinities.

“You are not born a feminist”

One is not born a woman, but rather becomes one . In this TEDx talk, the actress speaks as if she were Simone de Beauvoir herself, explaining how women don't identify as a group, unlike men, who find it enough to say "I am a man" to feel part of something greater. Beauvoir's opinion on whether nature or culture dictates women's behavior is interpreted superficially and simplistically.

“New Perspectives on History: History of the Feminist Movement”

The historical construction of the genres we know today goes back a long way. The speaker defines what all the definitions of feminism have in common, she tells us about patriarchy, about the differences in power that give rise to the feminist movement and the difficulty for women to leave the private space to the public.
“Build masculinity consciously”
Duration : 16 minutes
In this TEDx talk, Pol Galofré reflects on the boundaries of gender and the limits of masculinity. This trans man tells us what it means to him to be a man, what differences he has experienced in his transition, and what the assertion that gender is a social construct means to him.

“Sex, porn and feminism”

Amarna Miller [on the day of the talk, porn actress and feminist activist], Beatriz Gimeno [responsible for Equality in the Community of Madrid] and Clara Serra [state responsible for the equality area] debate and develop to what extent pornography can change to reach to be ethical and feminist, speaking, at the same time, about the rights and sexual desires of women.
Three different perspectives with which you may or may not agree, but which will bring to the table issues as necessary as the absence of sexual education in the educational system or the comparison between sexual fantasy and reality.
“Postpartum depression almost took my life”
Duration: 1 hour
Sindy Takanashi is interviewed on the @SomosEstupendas channel to talk about an almost taboo subject: postpartum depression, telling her personal case and criticizing the lack of information about a problem that affects a high percentage of mothers. Why is it almost always the mother and not the father who goes through this situation? What can a heterosexual man do in these cases? Everything is debated during the conversation of these two friends.

"Abolitionism of prostitution: data, arguments, proposals and problems"
Duration: 45 minutes.
The activist youtuber Ayme Roman explains the abolitionist feminist vision with contrasting data and sources, comparing and differentiating prohibitionism from abolitionism. Video in which she analyzes prostitution throughout history, focusing on the root of the problem: the poverty and lack of resources of the vast majority of women who decide to prostitute themselves; and the existence of men who find this activity desirable [unless it is their wives, mothers, sisters or daughters].
We do not pretend that you agree with everything that is said in these talks about feminism, but it is important to consider these questions, bring up issues that concern us all as a society and not ignore the problems of our century.
