What is a sentence?

A prayer is a way of invoking a deity. In this way, through words, written or oral, one seeks to express and ask someone close to God or the saints for help.

According to the dictionary of the Spanish language, to recite (orally or mentally) a prayer is to speak to a sacred person or a divinity to request their help.

There is no length for sentences, but these can be just a phrase pleading with a saint or divinity; or a poem or something longer to extol the qualities of that person and ask for help, either for oneself or for another person.

Not only are there prayers in Christianity, but there are many other religions that also have these prayers, chants or prayers to their gods or saints. Even in Buddhism, mantras can be used as prayers, or meditation itself can be considered a way of praying, even to oneself.

What is the oldest known prayer?

The oldest prayer discovered dates from 1700 BC. c. It is on an ancient comb written in Canaanite and whose meaning is as follows: "May this fang uproot lice from the hair and beard."
