Power is understood as the ability or ability to act on someone, something or an event. Likewise, power can be understood as the ability to produce an effect or exercise power or authority over others.
In this context, the power of God has manifested its ability during creation. The Lord has the authority to assign dominions to whom and how he wishes. God revealed His Power by delivering the Israelite people from slavery in Egypt.
Likewise, he accompanied his people during the conquest of the land of Canaan. The power of God is manifested in his judgments, but also in the act of forgiving our sins. The power of God has been manifested in the prophecies and their fulfillment.
Now, in the New Testament we can appreciate the power of God through the miracles of Jesus Christ in action. However, it is important to note that the maximum expression of God's power was on the cross of Calvary.
However, to understand the different manifestations of God's power, we will develop each of these aspects based on the Bible.
Before we begin, it is important to remember that God's thoughts are not our thoughts. Also, that God has stored a number of hidden treasures that only through Jesus Christ we can reveal and understand.
This makes us assume a posture of humility before the message about the power of God. We must be with an open mind to understand the Word of God.
Isaiah 55:8
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
Isaiah 45:3
3 And I will give you the hidden treasures, and secret places kept secret, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by name.
Colossians 2: 2-3
2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ,
3 In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

How to understand the message of the power of God?
To understand the messages contained in the Word of God, we must recognize that our mind is full of darkness. Of vain knowledge of the world. Only through the power of God hidden in the Cross of Calvary opens our understanding to the hidden messages in the Word of God.
The things of the Spirit are only possible to understand in the spirit. For the natural man, the unbeliever, these messages are crazy. However, the same Scriptures warn us about these things (Romans 12:2; 1 Corinthians 2:14; 1 Corinthians 1:17-25; Job 37:19)
When we receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our God and Savior we are born again. In that birth we receive the Holy Spirit who reveals all things to us. We must keep in mind that God is Spirit and only through the Spirit, He can speak to us (John 4:24)
1 Corintios 2: 14
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
The power of God in his Word
The Bible is the mind of God, his knowledge and wisdom. Therefore, we must understand that there is power of God. For example, when we read a book on psychology and they give us tools to have better interpersonal relationships, it is knowledge that psychology gives us for our interaction with others. In this case, it is the mind of God made Word that gives us knowledge of the things of God, and therefore they are of the Spirit.
God encloses his power in the Holy Scriptures. Well, according to the biblical content, he has the power to transform our mind, correct and instruct. Furthermore, the Word of God is perfect, clean, pure, faithful, true.
Psalms 19: 7-9
7 Jehovah's law is perfect, converting the soul;
Jehovah's testimony is faithful, which makes the simple wise.8 The commandments of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes.9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
Jehovah's judgments are true, all just.2 Timothy 3: 16-17
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Now, when a person receives the Lord as God and Savior, the Spirit of God guides us to understand the things of the Spirit. We can understand the secrets that God wants to reveal to us.
The Word of God has so much power that it can penetrate to the depths of our being. It is so powerful that it allows us to discern the deep intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4: 12
12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
The opposite occurs with those who are not converted. When reading the Word of God, the natural man sees them as madness. It is not possible for him to discern, to distinguish between good and evil. It is for this reason that they come to mock (2 Peter 3:3).
By reading this biblical passage we can deduce that the Bible has the power of God to convert the soul, that is, to transform our minds, emotions and our will. Likewise, the power of God hidden in the Bible makes the person with knowledge humble.
Another of the benefits of the power of God hidden in the Bible is that they gladden the heart, enlighten the eyes, correct our path and make us return to the path towards God.
In accordance with the Word of God, at the moment of receiving the Lord, all things were given to us to walk by faith, in justice and holiness. The power of God has given us the mind of Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:10; 1 Corinthians 12:13; John 17:17)
It is through the knowledge of the Scriptures that we Christians can know, understand and discern the power of God, just as our Lord Jesus Christ made it known to us.
1 Corintios 2: 16
For who knew the mind of the Lord? Who will instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and goodness.
Mark 12:24
24 Then Jesus answered them, “Are you not mistaken because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?”
Ephesians 3: 20
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us
Finally, those who have not believed in the power of God contained in the Bible, have decided to despise the promise of eternal life. This means that if someone doubts or does not believe in the Bible, they have despised Jesus Christ and therefore all the blessings that come from faith in Him.
1 John 5:10-12
10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
Starting from the veracity of the Bible, from the power contained in the Holy Scriptures, then we can appreciate the power of God and its manifestations. Next we will develop the manifestations of the power of God in the creation, in the prophecies, during the ministry of Jesus Christ. Likewise, we will refer to the power of God on the cross of Calvary and in our lives.
during creation
To contextualize the issue of God's power in creation, it is necessary to locate the Word of God. In this sense, we refer to the following biblical verse:
Romans 1: 20
20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
The Apostle Paul reminds us that through the power of God is that everything we know, what is created is made by God. It is enough to raise our eyes to the sky and see the splendor of the sun, the clouds. At night, like the moon, it lords it over and illuminates everything that its brightness can reach.
The firmament, the dawn. BY delving into the functioning of the water cycle, photosynthesis, the movement of the sea, the perfection of the gases that make up the air we breathe, the cycle of life in fauna, leads us to conclude that everything done by the power of God.
There are several verses that manifest the greatness of God's power during creation (Psalms 19:1-6; 33:6-12; 148:5; Jeremiah 27:5; 10: 12; Hebrews 1:3; 11:3 ; 2 Peter 3:5; Psalm 18:1-9; Job 37:1-13; 38:1-8; Genesis 1:1; Revelation 4:11; Isaiah 43:7)
Salmo 36: 6
6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made,
And all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.Jeremías 10: 12
12 He who made the earth by his power, who put the world in order by his wisdom, and stretched out the heavens by his wisdom;
13 At his voice there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he makes the clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he makes lightning with the rain, and brings forth the wind from his storehouses.
Colossians 1:16
16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers—all things were created through him and for him.
At this point, it is necessary for the reader to understand that if we are not in harmony with the universe around us, we can never have the peace that passes all understanding. We must know about its origin.
The greatest creation of God was the human species, because we have made in his image and likeness. Humanity is the only species that can be aware of the world around it. If the reader reviews the functioning of the central nervous system, the circulatory system, the endocrine system, the functioning of the eye, the brain, he will conclude that we are a perfect organic complex.
What differentiates us from animals is the spiritual. We are created in the image and likeness of God who allows us to carry eternity in our hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11). When we refer to the likeness of God, it is attributed to moral and spiritual aspects, discernment and awareness of the world around us and eternity.
during the exodus
When we refer to the power of God during the Exodus, we all go back to the natural phenomena that manifested the glory and power of God to free the chosen people from slavery in Egypt (Genesis 47:1-22; Exodus 12:40; Psalms 135:5-12; Deuteronomy 4:32-37)
According to Exodus 12:40 the Jews lived 430 years in Egypt. This reveals to us that Joseph arrived in Egypt ruled by the Hyksos (Semitic origin) who lived in northern Egypt. This culture were cousins of Setura, one of Abraham's wives. So they were first cousins of Joseph.
Archeology shows that Setos I (he was the one who enslaved) and Ramses 2 (1290 – 1294 BC – he made them flee) were the pharaohs who built the cities of Pitón and Ramesés. The exodus is set in 1250 BC (Romans 6:16-18; 21-23; Ephesians 2:1-3; Exodus chapters 7 through 12 manifest plagues in Egypt; Psalms 78:42-51; Psalms 105 :27-40).
Now, our God explains by his own Word the reasons why he sent the plagues (James 5:1-8; 1 Corinthians 10:20-21; Revelation 9:21; Psalms 105:15), let us read:
Éxodo 9: 16
16 And indeed I have raised you up for this purpose, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
There are two important elements about the events of the Exodus. First, through the plagues, the Lord sent his judgments, which were against the demons of Egypt. Each plague represented the gods of Egypt. Nine judgments on their gods: they worshiped the Nile River, frogs, flies, locusts and God humiliated them.
The other aspect, and the most important, is that the Lord was announcing his next manifestation of great power and glory, such as the cross of Calvary by establishing the Passover lamb.
The Power of God in Prophecy
One of the manifestations of the power of God has been his fidelity to the people of Israel and the fulfillment of each one of his prophecies for his rebellion against God.
Despite their disobedience, everything prophesied has been fulfilled in an extraordinary way. God with his power scattered the people of Israel throughout the Earth. What was prophesied was fully fulfilled (Jeremiah 9:16; Ezekiel 22:15: Deuteronomy 4:27)
However, his fidelity to the covenant with Abraham also manifests the power of God. The greatest evidence of the prophecies is the creation of the people of Israel as a State. When reviewing the approval of the creation of Israel, after World War II, surprisingly, the establishment of this nation that today represents one of the most powerful in the world was approved in one day (Isaiah 66:8).
Power of God on the Cross of Calvary
During the Ministry of Jesus Christ on Earth we can evidence the miracles that healed the sick, raised the dead, among others. However, the greatest manifestation of God's power lies in the cross of Calvary.
Through the sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God announced since Abraham was tested with his son Isaac, then in the Exodus and the establishment of the Passover Feast we can realize that God has always oriented the history of humanity around the cross.
During Abraham's walk with God, the Lord asked him to sacrifice his son Isaac. When it seemed that this event was inevitable, the Lord provided him with a lamb.
Then, during the Exodus, the Lord required a lamb per family to be sacrificed, a reminder that God had freed them from slavery. From that moment, He established the Feast of Passover as a commandment that we commemorate to this day. 1 Corintios 1: 17
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
In the following verse we can see that Jesus himself recognizes that the sacrifice of the cross will be through the power of God to die for us out of love and rise again through the power of God for the remission of our sins.
John 10: 17-18
17 This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, so that I may take it up again.
18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again . This command I received from my Father.
