Rapper Pop Smoke shot dead in his own home

Death of Pop Smoke

after the sudden Juice Wrld overdose death last December, the passing of Pop Smoke today reopens the sad list of young rappers leaving the world too soon. Unfortunately, a list featuring famous names such as XXXTentacion, Mac Miller, Nipsey Hussle or Lil Peep. Pop Smoke, a promising rapper who had been experiencing a significant rise in popularity for several months, died this Wednesday morning during a robbery in his own home, according to the US media. TMZ.

According to initial police information, two masked individuals broke into Pop Smoke's home in the Hollywood Hills at 4:30 in the morning and opened fire, seriously injuring the rapper. The assailants were seen leaving the scene on foot. Pop Smoke was taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspects remain at large and have not been identified. It is not known if Pop Smoke knew the assailants. Police initially handcuffed and detained a suspect who was released minutes later.

Pop Smoke, only 20 years old, had released his first album (Meet the woo) last July. In this album we find the most popular work of his to date: Welcome to the party which was considered one of the songs of the summer. Later, Nicki Minaj made a remix of the song. The rapper also collaborated with Travis Scott (regular collaborator of other artists such as Rosalía or Drake) en Cats. Pop Smoke had released the follow-up to his album, Meet the Woo 2this same month of February. The album features collaborations from Quavo, A Boogie wit Da Hoodie, Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign.

50 Cent talks about Pop Smoke

Not even a week ago 50 Cent himself talked about Pop Smoke during an interview with Ebro in the morning at the station Top 97. 50 Cent made, half jokingly, half seriously, the following comment:

-We have to be very aware of the new voices. The youngest. Do you like Pop Smoke?

-Of course I like it.

-You better. (laughs)

50 Cent hinted at something many other Joe Budden-like opinion leaders and podcast hosts have already joked about: Pop Smoke was a guy to watch out for.You can see this exchange between 50 Cent and Ebro in the minute 5 of this video.

Also a few days ago, Pop Smoke starred in a funny viral story after a photographer that he himself had hired published some images of him in which he was very unfavorable.
