The context of this biblical passage refers to the announcement of Jesus for the proximity of his departure. The disciples are shaken by the news. Three years of their lives have been shared with the Lord and his leader, his spiritual guide announces to them that he is going to leave. This has them baffled. They do not understand that the Lord is announcing his death to them as a sacrifice. They could not discern the depth of Jesus' words.
The context of John 14:6 begins during the celebration of Easter, the Lord announces to them that someone is going to betray and hand him over. They are affected by this terrible news, without knowing who the traitor is.
Faced with this terrible announcement, the Lord's disciples begin to feel deep sadness. A deep anguish, uncertainty, nostalgia and sadness emerge in their hearts, because they wondered if they would be the ones who would betray the Lord (John 13).
In front of this announcement, the news is added that where the Lord is going, they cannot go immediately. We assume that this disoriented and disturbed the hearts of the disciples. In this context, the Lord speaks the words of John 14:6.

Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house there are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; I am going to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and I will take you to myself, so that where I am, you may also be.
4 And you know where I go, and you know the road.
5 Thomas said to him: Lord, we do not know where you are going; how, then, can we know the way?
6 Jesus said to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.
Emotional state of the apostles
As we have been able to read in the context of John 14:6, the disciples of Jesus were full of uncertainty, longing, sorrowful before the Lord's announcements. Uncertainty is a state of mind that occurs in the absence of information about a future event.
However, Jesus had announced the betrayal of one of them. It seems that they were so disturbed that they did not listen to what Jesus said. By reading the biblical passage of John 14: 6 we can specify that even when the Lord tells them that he is going to his Father's house, they did not understand what he was talking about.
Thomas in John 14:5 says he doesn't know where the Lord is going even though he said it a few seconds ago. This makes us suppose the emotional state of the disciples of Jesus.
Given this fact, the Lord, perceiving the uncertainty, the sadness of his disciples, tells them not to be troubled in their hearts. This word disturb means (tarazo in the Greek: internally agitated, restless, disturbed, full of eagerness)
The teaching that John 14:6 leaves us is that the attitude of a Christian in the face of uncertainty about the events that affect us daily is not to be disturbed. Do not fill us with eagerness. Having an inner peace that will give us the strength to face anything.
If we are confused, restless we cannot make decisions because of doing so; most likely it is a wrong decision. We must not allow anything to rob us of our peace. Always above your peace with God.
In this context, Jesus already knew that the next day he would die on the cross. However, the Lord comforts the disciples of him. Here the omniscience of Jesus is demonstrated. Our Lord, like a bridegroom in love, is going to prepare the place for his Church where we are going to accompany him.
Christ saw the anxiety in his disciples. It seems that the disciples have forgotten everything that Jesus had preached to them about the kingdom of God and the Gospel message that Jesus had preached. The Mansions of John 14:6
Jesus tells us that in our destiny we will have some dwellings (rooms, houses). Our entrance will not depend on us, but on our Lord who died on the cross of Calvary.
In the Kingdom of Heaven, which is our destiny, these places exist since the foundation of the world where we will live together with our Lord. It is not that Jesus came to build those places (Hebrews 2:10; Romans 12:2).
To reach this destination you must travel the right path. The main path. Jesus tells us that He is the door.

I am the path
To introduce the idea of a road, in ancient times there was what was called the Royal Road at the time. It was the main route that allowed transit from Damascus to the Gulf of Aqaba. It was the main route that carried trade caravans coming from Transjordan. So, a path leads from one point to another point.
According to the biblical passage of John 14:6, the destination is the Father and the way is Jesus. The Christian's hope is not the Kingdom of God, but to be with the Father who has his Kingdom in Heaven. The Greek meaning of the word path encompasses the idea of going from one point to the other (hodos). It means that to reach our destination, we must travel only one path and that is Jesus.
Jesus is not saying that there are several ways to get to God. It is not true that all religions lead to God. He is clearly saying that there is only one way to reach the Father and that is Jesus Christ.

The Truth
The word truth in the original Hebrew (Hebrew: emet; Greek aletheia: reality) means reality in contrast to appearance. According to this definition, when Jesus tells us that He is the Truth, he tells us that He is the only reality and that what surrounds us is appearance.
The Holy Scriptures reveal to us that the Truth is to show the Glory of God and his majesty. If we do not know Jesus, we cannot understand that He is the key to all created things. For by Him and for Him were all things created (Romans 11:36), in order to display the wisdom and glory of Jesus. The heavens declare the glory of God,

This means that to know the truth of something in creation we must start from its author, since He is the Truth.
The word "truth" was used by the Hebrews to describe and explain the works of God. In this sense, this word was understood as the description and explanation of God's creation. The Bible then is trustworthy, because it is the Truth and they are faithful to the foundation and foundation that is God. By locating ourselves in the Gospel of John 16:7, and the epistles 1 John 2: 4; twenty-one; 21 we can appreciate how they contrast reality with appearance. Let's see:

This is how the Truth is something that is maintained. It cannot be changed and when this happens it is known as absolute truths. In the Bible we find many prophecies that were fulfilled such as the birth of Jesus, his death and his resurrection. This shows us that the Bible is Truth, that God is Truth as well as His Son and the Holy Spirit.
The search for truth has produced endless philosophies and false doctrines in humanity that separate human beings from the only path that leads us to the expected destination. There is not a single atheist or non-atheist philosopher who has claimed to have found the Truth.
The truth cannot be found in an apparent world full of corruption, lies, evil. Satan himself offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if he would worship him. So, everything we know is impregnated with lies.
1 Corintios 1: 27
but God chose the foolishness of the world, to shame the wise; and the weak of the world chose God, to shame the strong;
In other words, the accumulation of knowledge of the secular world does not respond to the mysteries enclosed in creation. In ancient times, Greek philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, among others, and great physicists such as Pasteur, Newton, came to the conclusion that God exists behind all created things. It is the closest thing to the truth of the secular world to the Truth.
We must clarify that we are not rejecting truths from the academic world that are important. We are highlighting the only Truth that explains the created. We can observe how science itself issues a number of relative postulates to explain the world around us.
How theories emerge to explain an event, questioning other theories and making them less valid. What was true for science thirty years ago is no longer true today.
So, according to John 14:6, the truth is a person and it is Jesus. Knowing him reveals all the mysteries. It is not an abstract system. It is an ethic expressed in a person and that is Jesus.

All knowledge to explain creation, its laws, its mysteries outside of Jesus is outside the path of Truth (John 1:1-5).

Life
Life, biologically speaking, refers to the quality that distinguishes animate beings. Beings that have life move. In contrast, what is dead lacks movement.
Living beings grow, develop and reproduce according to their species. However, in the spiritual context, those who are alive transcend beyond a simple corporeal or physical life.
God is the only one who can give life (Joshua 3:10; Matthew 16:16; Acts 17:25; Romans 4:17; Deuteronomy 32:40; Jeremiah 5:2) in contrast to idols who are dead and inert (Isaiah 44:9-20; Jeremiah 10:8-10, 14; Psalms 115:8; 135:18)
Specifically in the Gospel of John we can read some expressions that our Lord said in reference to Life (John 6:35, 48; 10:10; 11:25; 14:6; 20:31).
Juan 6: 35
35 Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger; and whoever believes in me will never thirst.

31 But these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing, you may have life in his name.
As we have already read, the Path is the bridge that unites us to God, the Truth describes the rules for walking this path. In this sense, Jesus reveals to us that He is the Life, which is the dynamic with which this can be done.
The unbelieving man cannot understand it because he is dead in the spiritual life. The things of the spirit are discerned in the spirit. Jesus says in John 14:6 “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life”, but he who has not had a life in Christ cannot see the brightness of the gospel of Jesus.
Life is associated with the light that illuminates all truth. Lying is associated with spiritual death. To be born again, we must accept the gospel of Jesus as the source of all truth.
John 1: 1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 This was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through him, and without him nothing was made that was made that was made.
4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not prevail against it.

12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying: I am the light of the world; whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but he will have the light of life.

Life in communion with God
By receiving the Lord in our lives, as Jesus himself tells us, the light of truth dispels all darkness and we can discern the things of the spirit. In this sense, we can understand the metaphors that we find in the Old Testament to address Life in communion with God.
Salmo 36: 9
9 Because with you is the spring of life;
In your light we will see the light.
According to the Word of God, what we walk in communion with God, we appropriate his Light and therefore, we can see all the Truth that is in Him. A life opposed to Jesus, rejecting the truth means that we would be dead and in darkness
A life in communion with God, the Creator of all things is serving him (Isaiah 38:10-20) through obedience and doing his will (Leviticus 18:5; Matthew 6:10; 7:21) and feeding on the Bread of Life (Deuteronomy 6:1-9; 32:46-47; Matthew 4:4)
In the case of the New Testament, the Apostle Paul emphasizes the idea that Jesus is the center of the Christian's life and to live bearing witness that Jesus is the purpose of our lives.
Romanos 14: 7-9
7 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself.
8 For if we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, to the Lord we die. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
9 Because for this Christ died and rose again, and came back to life, to be Lord both of the dead and of those who live.
At this point, we can affirm that the purpose of life is to have a full communion with God.
According to the Word of God, the Christian dies with the Lord on the cross and rises with Him (Colossians 3:1-3) so the life of the Christian has been hidden with Christ until the Lord comes a second time.
In this second coming we will manifest ourselves with Him in glory (Colossians 3.4). Therefore, fellowship with God depends on constant seeking and meditating on the things of the Lord (Colossians 3:1-2). This is what life in fellowship with God is all about.
The Apostle Paul describes his life as a walk to live in Christ; just as the act of dying is gain in Christ. In short, if our life has Christ as its center, life has no borders.
Colossians 3: 1-3
If, then, you have risen with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your sights on things above, not on things on earth.
3 Because you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Filipenses 1: 21
21 Because for me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

John 14:6 – Eternal Life
When we repent, receive and confess the Lord as our God and Savior, Jesus said that the next step was to be baptized as a symbol of our death to this world and birth to a new life. This life that Jesus promised us in the Truth.

Therefore, we must make an effort to submit our thoughts, our flesh under the will of God; in other words, it is resisting the temptations we face in this world (2 Corinthians 4:11; Romans 15:13; John 3.3-6; Galatians 5:20)
Being born again implies being like children obeying and depending on our Father who is in heaven (Mark 10:15).

3 And this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
