5 Differences Between the Old and New Testaments
Although it is true that the Bible is a unified book that relates the old to the new testament, there are some differences between the two. More nevertheless all of them come to be the objective of the fulfillment of the perfect plan of God, that is to say, the new testament is the complement of the old one.
All these differences between the old and new testaments serve a purpose of the design of the eternal for its creation. And of them, these five main ones can be mentioned below:
- 1st – The old testament: It is the foundation or foundation of faith.
- 1 B. – In the new testament: It is built on the statutes stipulated in the Old, with a greater revelation of God.
- 2st – The old testament: Establishes the principles of faith in God.
- 2 B. – In the new testament: The old is used as an illustration or demonstration of the truths revealed in the New.
- 3st – The old testament: Announces messages from God through the prophets about prophetic events to be fulfilled. Many of these prophecies are messianic, those that announce the coming of the Messiah.
- 3 B. – In the new testament: Many of the prophecies announced in the Old Testament are fulfilled. Of these, the most relevant are the messianic ones, the Messiah is incarnated in the person of Jesus.
- 4st – The old testament: Recounts the generational history of a town with a purpose to be fulfilled in the New.
- 4 B. – In the new testament: The life and work of a person, Jesus, the Messiah of God, is recounted.
- 5st – The old testament: It manifests the wrath of God against the sin of man, and glimpses of his grace.
- 5 B. – In the new testament: The grace or favor of God is manifested cleansing the sin of man, and his wrath is glimpsed.

The Messiah in the differences between the Old and New Testaments
The messianic prophecies contemplated in the Old Testament, those that are related to the coming of Christ the Messiah of God. All of them are immersed in a halo of mystery that is clarified in the New Testament.
An example of this is shown to us by the prophecy spoken by the prophet Isaiah, concerning the death of the Messiah and the establishment of his kingdom, Isaiah 53 and Isaiah 26 respectively.
Both of these prophesied events do not indicate the sequence or chronology of what was to happen first, between the passion and the establishment of his kingdom.
The New Testament makes it clear that the Messiah would have two comings. In his first coming in incarnate form, Jesus exercised his ministry, suffered, died and rose again.
For the second coming Jesus Christ already glorified will establish his kingdom for eternity. This being the hope of the Christian, Christ is our hope of glory, Amen!

Messianic Differences in Biblical Testaments
-The Old Testament in Isaiah 53, announces the Messiah, the new gives revelation and identity of the Messiah in John 4:25-26:
John 4:26 (TLA): Jesus said to him, “ I am the Messiah. I am the one speaking to you.”
-In the Old Testament, God introduces the Law through Moses, which must be fulfilled by the people of Israel. The New testifies that Jesus fulfills the Law of Moses, Christ is the entrance of the new covenant.
Matthew 5:17 (NLT): -Don't misunderstand why I have come. I didn't come to abolish the Law of Moses or the writings of the prophets . On the contrary, I came to fulfill their purposes-.
Hebrews 10:9 (NLT): Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He cancels the first covenant so that the second may take effect.
-In the Old Testament, God's blessing is primarily upon the chosen people of Israel. In the New Testament, God's favor falls primarily upon the Universal Church of Jesus Christ, although He loves all creation.
Matthew 16:18 (TLA): That is why I will call you Peter, which means “rock”. On this rock I will build my church, and death will not be able to destroy it.
-In the Old Testament the divine promises of physical blessings under this covenant, give way to the spiritual blessings of the New Testament under the Covenant of grace.
Deuteronomy 29:9 (RVC): So you must keep the words of this covenant and do them, so that you may prosper in everything you do.
Ephesians 1:3 (NLT): All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ , who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places because we are united with Christ.
