The animal kingdom is the most diverse of all kingdoms, and like humans, animals possess a very similar and complex cellular structure. Join us as we explore everything about the animal cell , its characteristics, functions, and much more.

What is the animal cell?
All living organisms contain cells and are made up of a complex cellular system, from the tiniest organisms such as microorganisms to single-celled bacteria.
The animal cell, on the other hand, is the one called eukaryote, a term that originally translates as "authentic nucleus" this represents a cell with a nucleus. There are therefore two types of cells that manifest in the animal kingdom.
From animals that have characteristics that are distinguished as unicellular organisms, and those that have an organism with multicellular cells. These kingdoms were classified into two:
Moneras are those that characterize animals that have a cellular organism that does not contain a nucleus. While the protists constitute those cells that contain a nucleus.
The cells that represent the organisms in the Monera kingdom are rudimentary. They are defined by being prokaryotes in the sense that the DNA is free in the cell, they are also distinguished by lacking a complex structure, in contrast to much more developed cells.
The kingdom of protists is made up of unicellular organisms, in which the genetic material DNA is found in a nucleus inside the cell. They are more developed than monera cells and are characterized by being microscopic organisms.
What is a cell?
Cells are energy processors, which store genetic information, it is defined as a complex structure. They contain a wide variety of sizes, with small cells being only a few thousand atomic diameters.
In the human body there are approximately 10 trillion cells that perform a great deal of chemical activity on a daily basis. Plants and animals use the same cellular machinery to obtain energy from glucose, however they differ primarily because animal cells do not have a cell wall or chloroplasts.
Plants, fungi, and some protists possess a rigid structure called a cell wall. This wall is made of cellulose and provides the necessary rigidity to support the stem and branches. Interestingly, the strength of wood materials is maintained by cell walls, which survive long after the cell has died, according to the Characteristics of an Ecosystem.
As a curious fact, it is not known when the first cell originated, however some fairly advanced unicellular organisms existed for about 3.700 million years. At present in the Oceans a large number of living unicellular organisms abound. Complex life began in the oceans, the same happens with organisms with more than one cell.
animal cell structure
A cell should not be called a blood cell, as we said before, a cell is a complex structure. It must be taken into account that a cell produces thousands of chemical recreations. Within them there is a liquid that is biologically called cytoplasm, this to refer to the existence of the different liquid structures that exist within a cell.
-
The cell contains three special systems:
1- Represents the set of operating instructions
2- Chemical factories that supply energy for the cell, and manufacture new materials
3- Transport system that moves materials from one part of the cell to another.
-
cell membranes
The membranes that separate the cell from its environment and that separate a part of a cell to a new one, are made of a type of fatty lipid molecule. The cell membrane actively collects the molecules it needs.
-
skeletons of cells
It is called protein filaments also known as cytoskeletons. There are different types of filaments, which give the cell its shape and structure. The cells that move do so by shortening these filaments or cables, which sometimes appear outside the membrane to form cilia, that is, small hairs.
-
organelles
They are the chemical factories of the cell. most of the chemical transformations within it are carried out in various Organelles, there may be thousands of them within the cell, just as there are many different types of Organelles, each one fulfilling different functions.
Golgi apparatus its function is to carry out the final synthesis of the proteins that the cell is going to excrete, its name is given in honor of the scholar biologist who discovered it, called Camillo Goldgi.
-
Lysosomes
They are the stomach of the cell and contain digestive enzymes that help break down substances. There are millions of these in the cell.
-
The nucleus
It contains the genetic blueprints for how the cell works. It represents the largest of the eukaryotic cells. It is surrounded by a double membrane and is punctuated by pores that allow RNA to move out of the nucleus but keep DNA inside. Inside the nucleus are the chromosomes, which are long tangles of DNA and other materials.
-
chromosomes
They represent the place where the genetic material of the cell is stored, that is, the DNA, the duplication of these is an essential fact in cell division. Entangled in the heart of the cell nucleus is an organelle that receives the name of nucleolus whose function is to manufacture ribosomes.
During the beginning of cell division, the chromosomes coil and become much thicker, the chromosomes and the DNA are loose in the environment of the nucleus, only when the cell divides does it become visible through a microscope.
Different species contain vast numbers of chromosomes. Human beings contain forty-six, while animals such as mosquitoes have only six, dogs for their part have seventy-eight, goldfish have ninety-four, and pumpkins have eighteen.
The organism that has the most chromosomes is a species of plant called Fern with about 1.260 while the least number of chromosomes is found in a species of ant "Myrmecia pilosula" in which the bodies of the workers are formed by cells with a single chromosome each.
Finally we have seen the parts that contain the cells of the most exotic and extraordinary beings that planet earth houses on it, the animals. Each species with different features, characteristics and different morphology, which have a great complex system.
For the most part, the animal kingdom has a wonderful nervous system, which allows it to process information that gives the animal senses, allows the formation of its organs, the signals travel through the nervous system and along the nerves that are networks of individual cells called neurons.
The nervous system of higher animals is concentrated, animals like the jellyfish have a nervous system dispersed throughout their body. In vertebrates they become the complex structure we know as the brain.
animal cell function
The function of the cells present in animals is extraordinarily complex and essential for the proper functioning of the animal system.
The process that the cells carry out is really important, the proper functioning of these guarantees a good adaptation for life on planet earth.
It is interesting to know how the mechanism of the nervous system of animals works, thanks to science and new advances, we can learn more and more about animals that are truly living beings that impress man with their morphological characteristics. What makes us always have new expectations towards them.
In this case we study and know the animal cell and its parts, and we know that animals that have eukaryotic cells share characteristics very similar to those of human beings. Fact that is really attractive.
Undoubtedly knowing the animal cell and its functions leads us to a new plane of knowledge that allows us to biologically understand the structure of its cellular system. Thanks to the science that has been in charge of carrying out in-depth studies, it is wonderful to learn more about the living beings that share the planet and its surroundings with humanity.
Understanding and appreciating the lives of our animals should be humanity's goal. Humanity's ambitions sometimes involve disrupting their habitats, altering the Earth's climatic zones through interference with natural processes.
Let's be aware and start by knowing their biological mechanisms, to then contribute with the care they deserve. In order to live all in a better world, full of opportunities to survive in harmony with each other.
