Biography and life of Saint Porcian
Saint Porcianus was a bishop of the Catholic Church who lived in the fourth century. He was born in Rome and was the son of a Roman senator. He studied law and became a lawyer, but later abandoned his career to pursue religion. He was ordained a priest and then Bishop of Tarquinia.
Saint Porcianus was a defender of the Catholic faith during the Donatist schism. At the Council of Rome in 346, he and other Italian bishops condemned the Donatists. He also participated in the Council of Aquileia in 381, where the differences between Catholics and Arians were discussed.
After his death, Saint Porcianus was venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church. His feast is celebrated on January 21.
