Biography and life of Saint John of Afusia

Saint John of Afusia was born in the year 290 AD in the city of Antioch, in what is now Turkey. He was the son of a Christian family and was baptized by Bishop San Babilas. At eighteen, Juan was ordained a deacon and worked tirelessly for the Church, helping the poor and the sick. In the year 311, the Roman emperor Diocletian began a cruel persecution against Christians, and John was arrested and tortured for his faith. Despite the terrible torture he suffered, John did not renounce his Christian faith and was martyred in AD 313, along with seven other deacons.
