The novels were published by Editorial SM in Spanish and have been translated into English, German, Portuguese and Korean.

Memoirs of Idhún: Novels

Written by the Spanish author Laura Gallego García and published sequentially: Memoirs of Idhún I : The Resistance” (2004) , “ Memoirs of Idhún II : Triad” (2005), and Memoirs of Idhún III : Pantheon” (2006) . The author's original idea was to create six books titled: “ Search,”Revelation ,” “ Awakening ,” “ Predestination ,” “ Convulsion,” and “ Genesis.”

But Editorial SM convinced her to condense the stories, in a prologue, 14 chapters and three epilogues, so that there would be similarities in the volumes and end up being more pragmatic.

In conclusion, the unification of these texts ended up being 2259 pages. But the number of pages does not prevent readers from enjoying the wonders that these works provide.

Currently, two editions are available: The first and oldest edition features a hard cover and dust jacket, the colors of which vary depending on the book series (I, II, or III). The first edition of * The Resistance * has holes in the dust jacket, which have been removed in the current edition.

From 2009 to 2012, the trilogy was presented with a soft cover, now made up of 6 books, since each one is divided into 2 parts as the author intended to do from the beginning. This modality is offered in languages other than Spanish, because it is considered more comfortable and economical.

Finally, the “Encyclopedia of Idhún” was published on the 10th anniversary of the saga and it compiles all the stories, mythologies, races, culture, geography and more.

Main plot of Memorias de Idhún

By way of introduction, 6 races lived in harmony in Idhún – warmbloods – humans, varu, faeries, celestials, yan and giants. As well as other semi-divine species such as dragons, unicorns and sheks (winged serpents). But the latter, along with their allies, the Szish, were exiled to Umadhun, narrowly experiencing extinction.

Everything was going well until a magician, with an enormous power called: "Ashran the Necromancer", used his magic combined with that of the gods to cause an astral conjunction of the three suns and three moons of Idhún that would return the sheks back. .

Planning the extinction of unicorns and dragons to gain dominion over the six warm-blooded races with the support of the cold-blooded Szish, the wizard committed this atrocious act because a prophecy foretold that a dragon and a unicorn would destroy him. Following this event, the story of Memorias de Idhún focuses on three teenagers: Jack, Victoria, and Kirtash (or Christian).

It all begins when Kirtash, a cold and skillful assassin character, in the service of Ashran, is sent to Earth to kill some renegade magicians who escaped from the astral conjunction.

But the Earthlings and members of The Resistance, Jack and Victoria, will try to stop him. From there, a series of fantastic events is triggered that will affect both worlds.

Development of the story in the books

During the story, the battle between deities becomes the main event of the entire odyssey that the characters live. The fight between the gods of the warmbloods (Aldun, Neliam, Wina, Karevan and Yohavir) against the Seventh, protector and creator of the coldbloods, is an epic battle that does not pay attention to the collateral damage caused by their actions.

For the gods, the inhabitants of Idhún are only pieces in a chess game that they must not lose for any reason. Here, the dragons are the commanders of the hotbloods and the sheks of the coldbloods. While unicorns are neutral.

The Supreme Six came up with a plan, so that a dragon and a unicorn would survive to help annihilate Ashran. It is when the Seventh demands Kirtash to find the unicorn and the dragon to eliminate them and have absolute control of Idhún.

But everything is changing, as the story progresses. Kirtash changes sides and a new character, the faerie sorceress Gerde, appears to be Ashran's right-hand woman.

It's clear that there's a huge amount of material in Memorias de Idhún , and the story is far too long to tell in such a short time and space. However, we'll give you a brief summary of what each book covers, broken down into parts.

  • "Memoirs of Idhún I: The resistance".

The main objective is to find the last of the dragons and unicorn. Meanwhile, the characters get to know each other and fight on Earth. Each one discovers their true being and acquires knowledge about Idhún and the prophecy.
