The Spanish airline will incorporate next-generation onboard connectivity so that its customers can browse no cost and high speed throughout the entire journey. The technological leap comes thanks to an agreement between the IAG group and Starlink, SpaceX's satellite network.
As confirmed by the company, WiFi will be available in all the booths and on both short and long-haul routes, with a quality similar to that enjoyed at home and active service from boarding to landing.
When will it arrive and on which flights?

Iberia plans to begin offering this connectivity on the first flights to principles of 2026with a gradual implementation across the different models of its fleet. The measure will cover domestic, European, and ocean linersprioritizing stable and continuous coverage.
The company notes that the connection will be usable during all phases of flightincluding taxiing, ascent and cruising, and that the service will maintain its quality on any route, even to remote destinations.
How Starlink connectivity works

Starlink uses thousands of satellites in low Earth orbit to provide broadband internet with low latency and great stability. Compared to geostationary solutions, this architecture reduces signal delay and substantially improves the onboard experience.
The airline speaks of speeds of up to 450 Mbps download speeds and up to 70 Mbps upload speeds, enough to stream content, hold video calls, or work in the cloud with fluency even at an altitude of 10.000 meters.
Coverage does not depend on terrestrial networks, thus guaranteeing connectivity over oceans, polar regions, and isolated areas. Installation will be carried out using certified equipment and standardized to facilitate maintenance and reliability.
Iberia and IAG's role in Europe

The agreement signed by IAG with Starlink covers several airlines in the group, including IberiaAer Lingus, British Airways, Level, and Vueling, with a plan to equip more than 500 aircraft. With this, the holding company aims to lead the air connectivity in Europe by volume of connected aircraft.
Iberia has confirmed that the service will be Free for all passengers—economy, premium economy, and business class. Within the group, Level has also announced that it will offer free access, while British Airways frames the initiative within its transformation program and modernization of the customer experience.
IAG management emphasizes that staying connected during flights is increasingly important for travelers and that the arrival of Starlink will improve both the speed such as the reliability of internet access on board.
Innovation and Flight Plan 2030
Connectivity is one of the pillars of Flight Plan 2030 from Iberia, which allocates significant investment to digitalization, artificial intelligence, and strategic projects such as the Iberian City, conceived as a hub of aeronautical innovation.
In parallel, IAG is promoting tools for IA all with Predictive Maintenance and operational efficiency, and has launched corporate initiatives such as IAGI to boost the entrepreneurial ecosystem and accelerate key technologies applied to air transport.
For Iberia customers, the change will translate into tangible advantages: a stable connection from the moment they sit down on the plane, the ability to enjoy streaming Uninterrupted, remote productivity, and access to messaging and social networks with a near-home experience.
- Global connection, even in poles and oceans.
- Free access at all the booths.
- Speeds up to 450 / 70 Mbps (download/upload).
- Active service from boarding until landing.
With the deployment of Starlink starting in 2026, Iberia is taking a decisive step in its strategy to continuous improvement of the onboard experience: more coverage, more speed and at no additional cost to the passenger, maintaining the focus on Spain and reinforcing its position in the European market.
